Kathie Lee Gifford is reflecting on her late husband, Frank Gifford’s, infamous cheating scandal almost 30 years later.
The former Today Show star sat down for a new podcast interview where she was asked about her husband’s indiscretion decades later, and opened up about what led to her decision to stay by his side afterward until the end of his life. Though she mentioned how painful the situation was, Kathie remained true to her feelings that the one-time incident was not something she saw as worthy of ending her marriage. Kathie Lee Gifford Reflects On Her Husband’s Cheating Scandal
The blonde media personality is well known for her humor, bubbly demeanor, as well as the eventful relationship she had with her late husband, Frank Gifford.
In various interviews throughout her career, Kathie shared that she met Frank, who was a former football player who worked as a broadcaster after he retired, in 1982. She was briefly working at Good Morning America. They got married four years later and welcomed two children in the early 1990s. However, in 1997, their relationship was brought to a new light in the public eye after a tabloid leaked that Frank had cheated on her.
Tracking him down to a hotel room, the publication leaked that he had an indiscretion with former flight attendant Suzen Johnson. During a July 15th interview with Sean Hannity on his podcast, Hang Out with Sean Hannity, she reflected on the incident nearly 30 years after it happened, and over 10 years after he died in 2015.
“It was horrible,” she said. “He was my hero. It took a long, long time for me to gain trust again. But you know what I did? The Bible says, ‘Be anxious for nothing,’ right? Now, did I threaten divorce? No.”

Kathie Explains Why She 'Forgave' Frank During Her Podcast Interview
There were many reports that came out following the former New York Giants player's scandal, including ones that the Today icon had left her home, and more. However, she's cleared all of that up in her new interview.
"That's not true," she revealed regarding the rumors that she fled her and Frank's family home. "I forgave him the minute he said it was true. That's what Jesus says."
Despite her religion helping her find a way to forgive her late husband after his cheating incident, Kathie also admitted that things in her relationship were far from perfect after it happened, adding that she saw Frank in an entirely different light and was "deeply hurt" from then until his passing.
Still, she stayed with him, wanting to continue raising their two kids together and strengthening their family.
"I thought we had a great marriage," she added. "Great love life."
