Sometimes, the universe aligns itself in a funny way, and two celebrities couple up or start dating that seem like they would never go together. For instance, it's not often that you hear about a zany pop star and powerful political leader going out on dates, but never say never.
Yesterday, on July 28th, the "Firework" singer and an established politician were spotted having dinner at a nice restaurant in Montréal. From the street, onlookers snapped pictures of them enjoying a meal and having an intimate conversation at Le Violon, a popular restaurant run by Chef Danny Smiles. The date happened about a month after she and her former fiancé, Orlando Bloom, released a statement through their representatives that they were ending their nine-year romantic relationship and engagement. The newly split couple, who share a four and a half year old daughter named Daisy, stressed in their announcement that they would "continue to be seen together as a family" and co-parent.
While some fans and pop culture enthusiasts expected one of the two good-looking stars to be seen on a date following their split, not many expected to see Katy stepping out so soon, especially with a former prime minister. Justin, who has been separated from his wife since 2023, recently went through a drastic life change himself, after stepping down as the Prime Minister of Canada earlier this year following a nine-year run.

After pictures of the rumored new couple or fling were shared on social media platforms like Instagram and Reddit, fans and other internet users could not get over the interesting pairing and left a ton of hilarious and witty comments that described their reactions to the situation.
On Reddit, one user called the duo "the most unhinged pairing" they had seen "in a long while." Another commented that Katy had the "most random taste in men" and that her date with Justin was "confusing."
