The internet is once again dragging Katy Perry, as she prepares to appear in court later this month to continue her long-running legal battle with 85-year-old disabled war veteran Carl Westcott.

Back in 2020, the Roar singer and then-fiancé Orlando Bloom bought Westcott’s $15M Montecito mansion through Perry’s business manager. Westcott later tried to back out, claiming he “lacked capacity” to sign the contract due to a recent surgery and the effects of Huntington’s disease and dementia. Perry and Bloom took legal action, and in December 2023 a judge ruled Westcott was mentally competent at the time of the sale. Perry officially took ownership in March 2024, with the deed recorded in May.

After winning ownership of the home, the former American Idol judge is now seeking up to $6M in damages for alleged structural defects, deferred maintenance, water damage, a fallen tree, and lost rental income. The six-day, non-jury trial is set to begin on August 21st, and the "Harleys in Hawaii" singer has been ordered to testify.

Real Housewives of Dallas alum Kameron Westcott has slammed both Perry and Bloom, accusing them of having no "empathy" for her father-in-law's condition. "We never, ever, ever even wanted to have to go to court," she told Fox News Digital.

"I mean, to be honest, we all always wanted to settle with her, and we never wanted to be in this position," she continued, adding: "Especially when my father-in-law has Huntington's disease and dementia. This is the last thing we want to do and deal with."

"It's extremely hard on everyone. My husband has to take care of everything now with his brother and my father-in-law can't speak for himself at all because of his condition," Kameron went on.

"And now the family has inherited this horrible situation, and it's just so heartbreaking that we have to deal with this while my father-in-law is in memory care and bed, so we're in this horrible lawsuit that's been going on for five years."

She added: "My poor father-in-law is sitting in bed and can't even get out, can't even hold a glass of water or feed himself or can't even talk. So it's just awful dealing with all this at once."

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor, who split with Perry a few months ago, was reportedly not initially expected to testify, but has been subpoenaed and added to the witness list. According to Westcott's son, Chart Westcott, Bloom told the property manager he was "in charge of repairs," making him a fact witness since Perry is claiming repair-related damages.

Chart also pointed out that the Lord of the Rings alum is listed as a manager of the LLC that owns the home, and the "I Kissed a Girl" singer is not. "The best-case scenario," Chart said, according to Fox News Digital, is if "the judge tells her to pound sand, and she doesn't get any damages, and she shouldn't because she's made out of this like a bandit."

He went on: "It's really not about the money. "It's about whether celebrities play by the same rules as the rest of us. The rules shouldn't bend just because you're famous."

Kameron echoed the sentiment, and added: "I don't think they have empathy at all. I think this is all about material items for them. They have absolutely no empathy for other people, because if they did, they would try to settle and close this and move on, but they don't have empathy for other people, and they don't care about their elders."

Internet Reactions

The "Woman's World" singer hasn't come across well – understatement of the century – with many critics even dredging up her infamous 2015 real estate feud with elderly Catholic nuns. If you recall, two Sisters of the Immaculate Heart tried to sell their convent to someone else, claiming Perry's deal defied their wishes. One, Sister Catherine Rose Holzman, reportedly pleaded outside court, "Katy Perry, please stop," before collapsing and dying amid the fight, which Perry ultimately won.

"She is an awful person. I hope she loses," slammed one person in the comment section of a New York Post article about the ongoing legal battle. "She is a truly despicable human being – she did this to the nuns as well – she just does NOT care at all about people or what she in particular puts them through," concurred a second.

"No morals and no class clearly. Just wait because karma is a witch," agreed a third, as a fourth added: "She is not a nice person." "No she isn't. First she did the same to the nuns, now she is going after an infirm old man," replied a fifth. "She also evicted Catholic Nuns from their homes. Katy is the ultimate mean girl," a sixth chimed in.
