Kelly Clarkson’s dramatic divorce from estranged husband Brandon Blackstock just took a surprising turn, with the 39-year-old singer being ordered to temporarily pay Blackstock nearly $200,000 per month according to a source for Us Weekly. The pair have been together since 2011 and share two children, River Rose Blackstock, 6, and Remington Alexander Blackstock, 4. However, Clarkson filed for divorce in 2020 after nearly seven years of marriage and has been battling out the logistics, with Blackstock initially requesting $436,000 in support, as well as for Clarkson to pay $2 million in his attorney fees.

On Tuesday, The Blast obtained court documents from the Los Angeles County Court revealing that the judge made the ruling to cover issues with Clarkson and Blackstock’s property, income, and child support. The documents also revealed Clarkson’s monthly income to fall around $1,583,617.

With the ruling, as of April 1, 2021 Clarkson was required to pay Blackstock $150,000 per month in spousal support, as well as an additional $45,601 per month in child support for her children, River and Remy. However, according to the documents the final settlement has yet to be determined so it’s possible that Clarkson will not have to maintain the hefty payment once their divorce is finalized.

Since 2020 things have only gotten worse for the former couple, with Clarkson also becoming embroiled in a legal battle with Blackstock’s father, Narvel Blackstock, and his company, Starstruck Management. The singer’s father-in-law sued Clarkson in 2020 over allegations of unpaid commission on her end. However, Clarkson filed a claim stating that both father and son defrauded her by charging excessively high fees while she was under their management company. Blackstock staunchly denied these allegations and the pair filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences as the cause.

While the divorce has not been finalized yet, Clarkson filed for another trial to end her marriage at the beginning of this month which may conclude their divorce proceedings if granted. Clarkson has maintained that her children are her top priority throughout the process, and has evidently been making the payments to Blackstock over the last several months as they work through the final details of the case.
