The news of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West‘s divorce did not exactly come as a surprise to those who have been hearing reports of the couple’s tense relationship for months now. But one person was shocked by reports: Kardashian herself.
A source recently told Us Weekly explained that the reality star was “blindsided” by the leaks.

The source explained to the outlet, "Kim wants the divorce settlement finalized before formally filing."
"Settlement talks are ongoing. Kim wants to control the PR campaign of the divorce and she was blindsided by leaks about the divorce reports," the insider added.
Though that does not mean she is not ready to split from West, who she married in May 2014.
Apparently, the couple had a "big fight in early December" that did not bode well for their relationship. The source said that West "blew up" at his wife, making her "really upset."
Things did not get any better as the month went on; source told the outlet that they had not "been together in weeks and didn’t spend the holidays together."
Sadly, the source said that "things between them don’t seem to have healed" since then.
It seems that this was just the cherry-on-top when it comes to marital problems for the couple.
Kim has been working on preparing for the divorce with the help of attorney Laura Wasser, who has a history of working with celebrities.
"Laura Wasser has been on retainer and actively working for Kim since last summer," the source said.
According to the source, friends of the reality star "are surprised she has waited this long to file for divorce."
"They have both been living separate lives for many months now. Kim and Kanye haven’t been on the same page for a while now," the insider added. Many had already predicted as much, considering how much time West has been spending in Wyoming.
