The Instagram account @celebbeforeandafter shared a series of snaps which showed Kim as she often portrays herself on social media next to screen grabs of Kardashian speaking on Keeping Up With The Kardashians. The contrast is startling, with the mother-of-four’s face appearing significantly different once the filters come off.

Fans flocked to the comments to offer their two cents on the difference between the images, with one writing, “the fact that none of the photos resemble each other is so sad. it is beautiful and age is the least important thing, why not accepting yourself without filters?” Another added, “It’s not about whether she’s pretty or not lol...it’s about how she edits every single picture to appear like she’s 20 years old with not a single wrinkle on her face. She’s 40 and she looks 40 in any lighting that isn’t on the keeping up with the kardashians set.”
The largest issue that people seemed to have is that Kardashian continuously attempts to conceal her age on social media, while her reality is just as beautiful. Aging is a natural process in life and while it’s normal to want to look as youthful as you can, heavily editing posts for social media can create an unattainable standard for beauty that works against the realities of life. Kim is stunning in both her Instagram photos and on the show, but there is a stark contrast of what editing has provided towards her looks--something important to keep in mind when judging your own beauty.
