Royal Fans Are 'Furious' And Threatening To 'Cancel' King Charles After He Invites Donald Trump And Melania Trump To The Palace For A State Dinner: 'This Is Disgusting'

Royal fans were in high spirits after the French State Visit to the United Kingdom, what with French President Emanuel’s cheeky wink at Princess Catherine. But the Royal Family’s recent announcement of the next country they’re welcoming to England has not been met with anywhere near that level of excitement.

In an Instagram post earlier this week, Buckingham Palace announced that they would be welcoming United States President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania Trump in September. Given the president’s popularity (re: lack thereof), this was not met with favor from British citizens, rather warnings from American ones. Keep reading for more information.

Buckingham Palace Announces Trump State Visit

On Instagram @TheRoyalFamily posted a photo with Queen Camilla, King Charles, Donald Trump, and Melania Trump beneath the words, “His Majesty The King will host The President of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump, accompanied by the First Lady, Melania Trump, for a State Visit to the UK, from Wednesday 17th September to Friday 19th September 2025.”

This will mark the second visit from Donald Trump to the United Kingdom, the first being during his first term on June 3, 2019. This also isn’t the first announcement of the second state visit, as U.K. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer actually presented Trump with a letter from King Charles during his visit to the White House in February of this year.

At that time, Trump said of King Charles, "He's a beautiful man, a wonderful man...I've gotten to know him very well actually [in my] first term, and now second term."

The Prime Minister explained that this second invitation was actually unprecedented, and that U.S. Presidents aren't usually offered a state visit during their second term, rather they're typically invited to attend tea or lunch at Windsor Castle.

"That's a great, great honor," Trump responded. "On behalf of our wonderful First Lady Melania and myself, the answer is 'yes,' and we look forward to being there and honoring the King, honoring your country."

In April, Trump addressed his invitation again, saying to reporters in the Oval Office. "I was invited by the King and the great country," he said. "They are going to do a second fest—that's what it is, it is beautiful...It's an honor to be a friend of Charles, I have great respect for King Charles and the family."

Social Media Reactions

With the news of the State Visit officially announced by the Royal Family, social media users are now catching on, with American users warning King Charles and some even threatening to "cancel" him for hosting Trump.

"Bad idea, Charles," one person wrote in the comment section. "Still time to cancel."

"Wow...that shouldn't be happening," another user wrote. "We shouldn't be legitimising the Trump Regime, or giving him a podium here.

"You can keep him if you like, us folks in the US would appreciate that," said a third.

"This is in very poor taste," agreed another user.

"As an America, we really wish you wouldn't do this," one comment reads. "He doesn't deserve two state visits. He insulted your mom. He's a horrible president. He will be compared in history to Hitler. Do you really want to be known as the King who invited Hitler over? He can just have a regular tea with you but he doesn't deserve the pomp and circumstance."

"This is disgusting and infuriating," a final comment reads."
