Every single member of the Kardashian/Jenner family has faced backlash over the years, with Kourtney Kardashian regularly coming under fire for seemingly “neglecting” her three oldest children.
The 46-year-old mom-of-four recently faced criticism for gushing over her two-year-old son Rocky, who she shares with husband Travis Barker, on social media, while being noticeably quieter about the three children she shares with ex Scott Disick: Mason, 15, Penelope, 13, and Reign, 10.
Kourtney Kardashian Says She Had No Guidance When First Child Mason Was Born
The Poosh founder has now opened up about her parenting style on the latest episode of the family's hit Hulu show, The Kardashians. She essentially confirmed that she is more intentional with Rocky, but said those changes actually began years earlier, starting when her daughter Penelope was born.
She explained that raising her first child at 30 came with zero guidance and a lot of guesswork, with her younger three children benefiting more from the lessons she learned.
Reflecting on her early days as a new mom, Kourtney said in a confessional: "When I was 30, and I had Mason, nobody told me what to do, I didn't read any books, but the way that I felt, my maternal instinct, was to do attachment parenting."

Rocky Wasn't The Turning Point – Penelope Was!
Kourtney clarified that Rocky wasn’t the turning point – daughter Penelope was! "Before I had Penelope, though, I read the attachment parenting book, and it was more intentional," she confessed.
Working motherhood shaped her mindset too. She said: "And even though I was working, I didn’t really think it was an option to not work. Now, I have the option not to work, and I feel grateful to be able to find what I connect to."
Kourtney has opened up about her desire to work less over the years, saying it's mainly to do with being present as a mom and wife. "I usually try to work once a week, at the most, if that. Or once a month," she confessed on a previous episode of the reality show which aired in October.

Kourtney Kardashian Talks About Her Desire To Work Less To Be A Present Mom And Wife
Last season, after joining younger sister Kim for a Dolce & Gabbana shoot, she admitted the experience reminded her why she stepped back from the spotlight in the first place. She called the shoot "a good reminder of why I retired into motherhood."
Kourtney explained that her priorities, including her relationship with her body, have shifted since marrying the Blink 182 drummer and welcoming their child.
"I mean it's fun to be on set with Kim and the vibes are immaculate, but I think this makes me want to wear massive clothes. I'm not into showing my body right now. I don't work out, it's not my priority," she shared.
Kourtney went on: "I'm in a taking care of my baby and kids and going on tour with my husband mode. I'm just not that girl anymore."
