Kylie Jenner recently sparked headlines after stepping out in a look that broke from her usual sequin, low-cut dresses—and reignited claims that she took inspiration from Lily-Rose Depp, her boyfriend Timothée Chalamet’s ex.
On Thursday, Jan. 29, the 28-year-old makeup mogul walked the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of The Moment, wearing a runway look from Maison Margiela’s Spring 2026 collection. The ensemble featured a backless halter crop top with a ruffled design that highlighted her midsection, paired with a long satin skirt detailed with pleats and a Scotch-tape-style wrap at the waist.
Fans React to Kylie Jenner's Ruffled Top and Skirt Combo
The mother of two finished the look with a slicked-back bun, statement earrings, and a soft brown makeup palette with glossy lips—prompting fans to speculate that she may have dissolved even more of her lip fillers.
Fans on Reddit had a field day, comparing her look to random objects and sounding off with their unfiltered opinions.
“8-year-old me with my Barbies, some napkins, and a roll of Scotch tape,” said one user.
A second wrote, “I was just about to ask, why does she have packing tape at the top of the skirt? It looks like one of those quick drag sessions from RuPaul’s Drag Race.”
“So ugly!! What is going on with the tape look??,” a third added.
On Instagram, some fans admitted they were relieved Jenner didn’t step out in yet another sequin-heavy gown, a style she’s frequently worn while accompanying Timothée Chalamet to recent awards shows.
“Well! At least it’s young & modern and not some sequin/embellished booby bodycon. It’s interesting how uncomfortable she seems when she can’t dress like that,” one user commented.
Another added, “Giving sequined body dresses a bit of a break…” while a third wrote, “Not my fav but refreshing to not see the same chainmail body-forming dress again.”

Kylie Jenner Is Accused of Copying Lily-Rose Depp Once Again
While reactions to her look were mixed, eagle-eyed fans quickly began drawing comparisons to an outfit Lily-Rose Depp wore to the U.K. premiere of The King in 2019. The connection sparked even more chatter, especially considering The King also starred Timothée Chalamet.
Chalamet and Depp appeared together in the 2019 Netflix historical drama, loosely inspired by William Shakespeare’s Henriad plays. In the film, Chalamet portrayed King Henry V, formerly Prince Hal, who reluctantly ascends the English throne following his father’s death, while Depp played Catherine of Valois, the French princess who becomes Henry’s wife and queen consort.
On Reddit, users said:
“Lily did it better." Another commented, “This is crazy. I don’t understand how Kylie isn’t embarrassed being a copycat.” Someone else noted, “You know she’s smiling because she thinks her Lily Rose costume turned out perfectly.” One person quipped, “Omg, she’s trying to be Lily-Rose Depp so bad.”
Previously, Kylie faced backlash after fans pointed out that she appeared to be mirroring several of Lily-Rose's past looks, including wearing a similar Chanel one-piece and even adopting the same signature pout Lily-Rose often makes in her selfies.
