Leonardo DiCaprio Hangs With Jeff Bezos
According to TMZ, last week DiCaprio and his girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti were spotted meeting up with Jeff Bezos and his newly minted wife, Lauren Sanchez, to sail Bezos' $500M super yacht in Ibiza. As a known environmentalist, you might think DiCaprio would choose another way to party, given how harmful super yachts are to the environment, but no.
Super yachts are one of the most carbon-intensive forms of transportation, often times even worse than private jets, but that hasn't stopped DiCaprio from actively using them rather often. Fans were quick to call out DiCaprio for his actions, but yet again, there's been no acknowledgement from the actor.
Leonardo DiCaprio Attends The Bezos Wedding
This comes just weeks after DiCaprio angered fans by arriving to the Bezos wedding in Venice on a private jet. To make things even worse, he was clearly trying not to be seen as he arrived at the Venice Airport. He came wearing a head-to-toe black outfit with a baseball cap pulled down over his eyes. Unfortunately for the 50-year-old, his disguise fooled nobody.
Approximately 90 private jets flew to the Bezos-Sanchez wedding, meaning that the carbon footprint just for arrivals to the wedding is about 5,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide. For context, that is equal to the total energy usage of about 500 homes in the United States for one year. It would require about 82,000 tree seedlings grown for 10 years just to offset.
And yet, self-proclaimed climate change activist Leonardo DiCaprio was there, enjoying the wedding festivities, without a care in the world. Needless to say, fans were furious.

In a Reddit thread calling out DiCaprio for how hypocritical his actions are, a user put these dots together. "He at least felt enough shame to try and hide from the paps when he attended the Bezos wedding, now he is greeting Bezos arm-in-arm on his yacht," the post reads. "Mr. Environmental himself hanging out with one of the worst people for the environment on one of the worst things for the environment. It's nearly laughable."
"Fine if he wants to be like the rest of celebrities as use their private jets and yachts like climate change isn't ending (well, actually not fine) but the fact that he truly thinks he is helping the environment really makes me mad," another user posted.
"There are celebrities that have never spoken a word about climate change but are still better for the environment than Leonardo DiCaprio is," another user pointed out.
