Mariah Carey typically doesn’t start promoting her Christmas music until Halloween is over – but this year, she gave fans a little sneak preview of what they can expect in a few weeks by teasing them with two out of four new physical single covers for her iconic hit, “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”
However, although many fans were beside themselves with excitement, not all of the attention was as positive as the Queen of Christmas would have expected, as many of her fans thought the pictures looked overly Photoshopped, with some even thinking that they were made with AI! Yikes!

Mariah Carey Teases Fans With Two New ‘All I Want For Christmas’ Single Covers
On October 9th, the ultra-glamorous singer shared the following message with her 13.6M Instagram followers: “While it is definitely not time to listen to Christmas music yet! I wanted to share a glimpse of #MerryChristmas30 with you! An homage to the original album cover, here is the cover art for two of the four new “All I Want For Christmas Is You” physical singles… available for pre-order now!”
The first single cover shows the 55-year-old six-time Grammy winner kneeling down by an enormous Christmas tree while wearing an off-the-shoulder Santa inspired jumpsuit. The second shows her standing outside by a snow-covered Christmas tree, while wearing a stunning white gown with a super-daring thigh-high slit, as well as an oversized fuzzy wrap.
Both of the pictures seem to have been edited very heavily, with some fans thinking that the music legend didn’t even pose for the pictures, and instead, simply used AI. The “We Belong Together” singer wouldn’t be the first A-lister to be accused of posting AI-generated images, and we sadly don’t think she will be the last.

Mariah Carey's Fans Criticize The Editing Of The Pictures
"There's a bit of Mariah Carey in this Photoshop," quipped one fan in the comments. "Why does the second picture look like AI?" asked a second. "Wait, I know that's not a cross-eyed Mimi in that second pic! Who cleared this?!" questioned a third, as a fourth said: "Are we sure that's Mariah?"
The criticism for Mariah's team (rather than Mariah herself) continued. "How does one of the most successful artists of all time have such a poor art department? The photoshopping/retouching on these is absolutely appalling and so amateur," slammed a fifth fan. "Dahling fire whoever did the photoshop on these because you look a million times better than these pictures!" exclaimed a sixth.
More fans continued to comment on the "awfully Photoshopped" pictures, with another fan saying, "Love her but she exaggerated the Photoshop use," and yet another adding, "It's over edited she don't need all that." "Whoever your cover artist is needs to get fired… your eyes and hair in the second one are not even blended well, and in the first one you can see some skin blotching from probably I mistake stamp tool drop... looks like photoshopping skills from middle school back in 1999," criticized another fan.
"Too much unnecessary Photoshop, you are gorgeous you don't need it," commented another fan. "Whose face is that? It's so airbrushed it looks like a painting – and a cheap one at that," added another, as someone else begged: "In the name of Jesus hire me next time."
