Mark Wahlberg had been known for his love of fitness since he first hit the scene in the 90’s, but the 49-year-old actor recently made headlines for a very different reason. Taking to social media earlier this month, Wahlberg revealed a dramatic body composition change which had fans’ jaws on the floor. The typically ripped actor posted a before and after photo, first showing off his 6-pack-abs before revealing what he looks like now after a 20 pound weight gain.

Wahlberg revealed that the dramatic changes took place in just 3 weeks, accrediting chef Lawrence Duran for the significant weight gain. The body changes, Wahlberg revealed, were for his new movie ‘Stu’ where the actor will be playing a boxer turned priest. Fans flocked to comment on the drastic change, but it was his own wife whose comment stood out the most.

Wahlberg’s wife Rhea, whom he has been married to for 12 years wrote, “And it looks just as hot in person baby [heart emoji].” Meanwhile, Mario Lopez popped in, commenting, “Yo. You wear mad chubby well homie!” However, Wahlberg posted another video on Instagram that week proving that he still has his classic 6-pack abs, even if he has gained 20 pounds. Posing with a friend, he captioned the video, “Kenny’s down 50 and I’m up about 20. Inspired to be better! I’m going up another 20. Yes it’s for a role.”

It seems that while Wahlberg is aiming to gain weight, he’s going about it in a healthy way and still integrating exercise into his routine. We can’t wait to see the product of his hard work for his new film. ‘Stu’ is set to start filming soon and Wahlberg is coming off a number of other big name projects, so it’s been a busy few months for him.
