Martha Stewart Calls Out Drew Barrymore
During Martha's recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, there was air to be cleared. "People thought that we had beef—or that you had beef with me over that—and I didn't get it!" Drew said, addressing the touchy interview from last year. "I was so surprised."
"Oh, I just don’t like to be petted on television," Martha replied, to which Drew nodded, saying, "Understood, Martha. I won't pet you again."
But Stewart wasn't done! "Do not pet me," she said. "I watch your show and you pet a lot of people."
"I do," Barrymore confirmed, and Martha replied, 'She's a very cozy girl, don't you think? I'm not so cozy." All in all, air was cleared, Drew and Martha are friends again, and boundaries have been set!
Drew Barrymore's Inappropriate 'Petting'
The incident they're speaking of happened nearly a year ago, in November 2024, when Martha first appeared on Drew's show. A clip of the call out went viral on social media.
In the moments preceding the viral clip, Drew had asked Martha how she’d like to be treated in a relationship, to which Martha answered, “Soft and gooey treatment.” Drew, who was already very much in Martha’s personal space, started rubbing her shoulders and caressing a hand down the cookbook author’s back.
Drew started replying, saying, “It’s nice when someone comes in—” but Martha interrupted her before she could finish her sentence by pushing Drew away with a gentle shove to the shoulder and saying, “You’re the wrong gender.” Drew dramatically flopped back on her couch and said “I know!” which drew laughter from the audience, but for many users online, they were cheering for Martha for setting boundaries.
