Losing a beloved pet is one of the worst and most painful experiences many of us ever have to go through, and this is something Martha Stewart knows all too well right now. The lifestyle guru, 80, shared two posts with her 1.6 million Instagram followers on her personal account honoring her late cat, Princess Peony earlier this week. The first photo showed three people digging a grave for Stewart’s cat before laying her to rest.

“Burying the beautiful and unusual Princess Peony,” Stewart wrote in her caption, before explaining that her other dogs tragically killed her thinking she was an intruder. “The four dogs mistook her for an interloper and killed her defenseless little self. i will miss her very badly. RIP beauty.”

The second post was a sweet photo of the adorable Persian cat. “This was the Princess Peony,” Stewart wrote while still in mourning. The businesswoman’s famous friends and fans began adding words of support, love and sympathy in her comment sections to honor her pet. “So sorry,” wrote Ellen Pompeo with a red heart emoji while Kris Jenner summed up our exact thoughts with three crying emojis. “That poor beautiful baby… this makes me so sad to read,” wrote one fan while another added, “she’s looking down on you Martha and we know you loved her so much.” Rest in peace, Princess Peony, and we hope Stewart finds comfort in their memories together.
