McDonald’s customers have grown increasingly angry over the years as menu items have gone up in price, but the quality hasn’t seemingly improved. For many, they’ve found the quality has actually gone down.

A Reddit post about McDonald’s price hikes and “shrinkflation” sparked a conversation amongst angry customers who are ready to stop eating at the famous fast food restaurant entirely. Many complained about “smaller” portions of food, bigger prices, and overall found that the experience wasn’t gratifying anymore. Read more about the latest McDonald’s complaints below.

McDonald's Customers Rant About Food Quality Issues After Reports That They've Taken A Hit In Sales

On Reddit, a user created a post surrounded by a news report that McDonald's has taken one of its biggest hits in customer sales since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. According to NBC News, U.S. sales recently fell 3.6%, and their traffic from 'middle-income diners' had dropped by "nearly double digits."

The Reddit user shared the news with angry fast food customers who aren't so surprised by this news, as they've been struggling to accept the latest quality shifts happening at the famous restaurant. Lately, it feels as though most American fast food chains have increased their prices drastically, but the quality of their food has either stayed the same or gotten worse.

Over the last two years, more and more upset customers have been posting about small food portions, lousy quality, and price hikes that are making them angry. McDonald's has received a large number of complaints, specifically, as they've seemingly begun straying away from their reputation as a cheap place to grab a quick, filling meal.

"They've lost the plot and forgotten what they are: cheap, quick food," wrote a Reddit user. "Worse, they've done it in a time when people cannot afford necessities, let alone conveniences."

Angry McDonald's Customers Say Their Menu Quality 'Doesn't Match The Price'

Once the post regarding McDonald's sales went viral, former and current customers began sharing their frustrations with the fast food chain, commenting on their increased prices, and some even mentioned that they're ready to give up on it. They were also upset that the chain seemed to be avoiding addressing their dip in quality and hiked prices.

"All fast food chains have tripled their prices while the quality gets [worse] and service gets slower," noted an angry user.

One customer pointed out that they'd rather pay the same amount of money at a small business or local restaurant, writing, "The quality of the food doesn't match the price."

"Either lower the prices or I'll continue to eat at a mom-and-pop's for the same price," they continued.

A former frequent fan shared similar sentiments, noting that they "used to go there probably one or two times a month, five years ago." However, in the last year, they had gone only once, citing that there are "much better and cheaper alternatives now."

Shrunken food portions seem to be a sore subject for these customers, with one speculating that the restaurant "made their food smaller while doubling the price."

They also called the food's current state "dumpster quality." With the return of some fan-favorite items like the Snack Wrap and other new items coming out in the next year, we'll have to see if McDonald's can redeem itself among these customers.
