The return of the McDonald’s Snack Wrap, one of their most popular menu items from the early 2000s, is finally here. However, the long-awaited return ended up disappointing faithful customers who don’t think it tastes nearly as good as it did years ago.

The revamped Snack Wrap returned not long after the famous fast food chain released their new yet controversial McCrispy Strips, which they reportedly used to craft the new wraps, and are upsetting fans. Since the Snack Wrap came back due to popular demand, people have been sharing their thoughts and dining experiences on social media, where they complained about the poor quality and higher price. McDonald's Brings Back The Famous Snack Wrap Due To Popular Demand

If you were eating fast food in the early to mid-2000s, there's a good chance you've heard of or have even eaten the McDonald's Snack Wrap, a convenient yet filling and tasty option for your trip to the drive-thru. Fans loved the wrap, which consisted of a tortilla, a chicken strip, ranch dressing, shredded cheese, and iceberg lettuce, as the wrap format offered an on-the-go menu item that wasn't too filling, and made a perfect road-trip bite, as it was easier to eat while driving.

The famous burger joint decided to phase out and discontinue the wrap in 2016, slowly, and they were totally gone by 2020, much to the dismay of numerous customers nationwide, reportedly due to the chain's attempts to simplify their menu due to the loss of sales that occurred at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, this year, they decided to bring them back.

Last month, the fast food corporation released an official statement that they were bringing the beloved snack back with a twist. They wrote that the item was "the most anticipated menu item of the decade," and even created a separate website dedicated to its return. However, instead of using the same chicken tenders they used when it first came out, they began making it with their new McCrispy Strips, which are receiving a lot of backlash from customers, and turning the wrap's triumphant return into a downfall.

McDonald's Customers Say The New' Snack Wrap' Is 'Gross' On Social Media

After the Snack Wrap was put back on the McDonald's menu on July 10th, some frequent McDonald's customers were thrilled, but others were skeptical from the start, knowing that they would likely be made with the McCrispy Strips, which are the latest chicken strips released from the fast food chain.

On social media, people would post that the chicken strips were "horrible," low quality, and not worth the price. The Snack Wrap does indeed feature the McCrispy Strips, and it's totally affected their comeback, leaving fans who were looking forward to them disappointed. On social media platforms like Reddit, customers shared their frustration with the low-quality wraps, writing that the chicken was the portion that ruined their experiences.

"The nostalgia is there, but the chicken is awful," complained a user. "It's missing crisp, [and] the quality of the chicken is rubbery and terrible. I don't know how you managed to mess this up when all you had to do was bring back the old chicken from years ago."

"I was so excited," added another. "Just had some for lunch and they're rubbery. I told my husband they used to be so crispy, and I was really upset."

A user had a very similar experience, writing that the "new Snack Wrap is gross and such a disappointing launch."

"I don't know what McDonald's was thinking," they added. "I wish they would bring them back with the old chicken. The new chicken is terrible."

Other social media users complained about the quality and the price, which is higher than what it used to be for the Snack Wrap when it first came out. While a price increase can be expected due to inflation, many customers are furious, as they're getting a lower quality item than they'd hoped for, at a higher price than what they remembered.

"It's definitely the double-whammy effect," wrote a customer on Reddit, as another commented that the new wrap was a "hard pass." While we're not sure how long the fast food chain plans on keeping the new wrap on their menu, so far, it looks like this anticipated release isn't going as well as planned.
