Meghan Markle has found major success with her lifestyle brand, As Ever, selling jams, jellies, baking mixes, and teas. The mother-of-two is now expanding her product line into alcoholic beverages, having announced last week that As Ever will soon be coming out with a rosé. The fruity beverage is dropping on July 1st, the same day as Princess Diana’s birthday, which some fans think is a purposeful move—and not a good one. Keep reading for more information.

Meghan Markle Debuts Wine With Ode To Princess Diana
As Ever’s announcement of the beverage describes it as having “soft notes of stone fruit, gentle minerality and a lasting finish” and called it a “bespoke blend” that’s perfect for a warm summer evening. The rosé will be available for purchase on July 1st, which is the same dat as what would’ve been Princess Diana’s 64th birthday, which is coincidentally the same day that she and Prince Harry met.
However, while some see this as a sweet tribute to her mother-in-law, others think it’s quite disrespectful, given the accident that tragically killed Princess Diana involved a drunk driver.
Social Media Reactions
With announcements of her new rosé's release splashed across social media, fans and critics have not held back their thoughts on the matter, with pretty much everyone in agreement that this was a bad move. "Imagine launching a wine brand on the birthday of your mother-in-law, who was killed by a drunk driver," one person wrote in an Instagram comment. "What a lovely way to celebrate the occasion."
"Yikes," another person wrote. "Zero class."
"Wasn't the driver drunk?" another person asked. "Bad taste much?"
"Tone deaf," another user agreed. "Equating cheap wine to the memory of the death of arguably one of the most beloved women in recent history. That's your Mom, Harry. How are you allowing this to proceed?"
