Caught In A Lie! New Details About Meghan Markle & Prince Harry's Interview Just Got Out

People are criticizing Meghan Markle and Prince Harry for stretching the truth during their bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview. One segment of their conversation in particular is under speculation. During their interview, Markle let slip that she had actually married Harry three days before their official ceremony. “You know, three days before our wedding, we got married. No one knows that. The vows that we have framed in our room are just the two of us in our backyard with the Archbishop of Canterbury,” she said.

However, since then, Stephen Borton, former chief clerk at the Faculty Office, told The Sun, “They did not marry three days earlier in front of the Archbishop of Canterbury.”

So what is the truth?

"The Special Licence I helped draw up enabled them to marry at St George's Chapel in Windsor and what happened there on 19 May, 2018, and was seen by millions around the world was the official wedding as recognised by the Church of England and the law," Borton explained. "What I suspect they did was exchange some simple vows they had perhaps written themselves, and which is fashionable, and said that in front of the Archbishop – or, and more likely, it was a simple rehearsal."

The Archbishop has not responded directly to the speculation. However, Newcastle Vicar Rev Mark Edwards has commented on the situation.

He told The Chronicle that a staffer at the Archbishop's official residence had said that "[Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby] had a private conversation with the couple in the garden about the wedding, but I can assure you, no wedding took place until the televised national event."

A representative for Markle and Harry did eventually clarify the situation to The Daily Beast, explaining "the couple exchanged personal vows a few days before their official/legal wedding on May 19."

Although it seems like a simple mix up, many of the British tabloids seem to think it was a more malicious lie -- and Piers Morgan was quick to chime in.
