Meghan Markle Talks About Money On Final Podcast Episode
The With Love, Meghan star said: "I think so many women, especially, we're taught to not even talk about money, and there's lots of guilt mentality surrounding having a lot."
The former Suits actress went on: "And at the same time, there's a scarcity mindset that it's easy to attach to, of like, 'I'll never have enough.'"
It should come as no surprise to learn that the mom-of-two's comments were slammed by various different people, including Achilles PR founder Doug Eldridge, who told Fox News Digital that he thought the As Ever founder has come across very "inauthentic" throughout the entire first season of the podcast.
Meghan Markle's 'Ongoing Struggle' To Be 'Relatable'
"The personal revelations were inevitable but terribly inauthentic. It's like humidity – you can't see it, but you feel it and it's undeniable," Eldridge told the outlet, adding: "For Meghan, this was a tactic to try and become more relatable to her audience, but you can't fake authenticity; you either have it or you don't. This has been an ongoing struggle for her."
"In terms of the royal family," he continued, "her indirect references continue to hurt her with the target audience. The perpetual use of the 'victim card' has backfired. Over a long enough timeline, the cracks in the story – coupled with the past allegations of her mistreatment of staff – have turned into gaping fissures."
"Not only does this fail to move the ball forward for Meghan, but it's akin to a series of self-inflicted holding penalties; she started at midfield, but now she's back on her one-yard line," Eldridge concluded.
Internet Reactions
"The audacity to speak to anyone about money when you married into The Royal Family," slammed one fan in the comment section of a People article about the podcast.
"This is just another desperate attempt on Harry's wife's part to stay in the news and put forth yet another word salad. She is desperate for money, that is why she married Harry in the first place," thought a second, as a third exclaimed: "Really, without Harry she would have none of all that she has in her life, & she darn well knows it!"
"She is still thinking that she is superior to all the little people and feels guilty (as if) for having so much. Well, it is ALL due to Harry's title," thought a fourth, as a fifth added: "Well, that's one of the reasons that she pursued Harry – his wealth. She had NO money coming into the marriage and she wouldn't have any if not for him."
"That woman does not feel guilty about anything. She believes what she has she deserves so it is rightfully hers. No guilt while she flaunts every expensive item she has," criticized another, as someone else said: "This entire thing just reeks of massive privilege. How tone deaf, especially considering today's financial situation for most people."
