Meghan Markle‘s Suits co-star Patrick J. Adams shared some behind-the-scenes pictures of the Duchess of Sussex (some of which were previously unseen!) on Instagram as part of a “trip down memory lane” at the end of last month – only to later delete them and apologize for posting them in the first place! But his reason for taking them down doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the royal family…
It seems like Adams, 42, broke SAG-AFTRA rules by posting the pictures of Markle, 42, and other Suits co-stars including Sarah Rafferty, Gabriel Macht, Rick Hoffman, Max Topplin and Gina Torres due to the strike against major TV and film studios which started in July. As per the LA Times: “Under strike rules, actors represented by the guild are prohibited from promoting any kind of work that falls under TV and film contracts. A SAG-AFTRA bulletin says promotion includes festival appearances, interviews and social media posts.” As Suits, which aired on the USA Network between 2011 and 2019, is a SAG-AFTRA signatory, the throwback post broke those rules, which Adams acknowledged on social media after he took the pictures down.
Patrick J. Adams Apologizes For Posting 'Suits' Pictures On Instagram
Adams took to his Instagram Story and apologized for posting the pictures during the SAG-AFTRA strike. "The last couple of days I foolishly and thoughtlessly let a trip down Suits memory lane distract me from the very real and ongoing fight everyone in @sagafstra continues to wage in its effort to win our membership realistic 21st Century compensation and protections," the actor's social media apology began.
Adams then called the posting of the pictures "an embarrassing oversight" which he said he was "incredibly sorry" for. "So grateful to those who gently and swiftly course corrected me here and I look forward to continuing the fight in the days and weeks ahead," he added.
Meghan Markle's Appearance In Throwback 'Suits' Pictures
The mom-of-two played the role of paralegal Rachel Zane for seven seasons, starting from the very first episode in 2010 until her last episode aired in April 2018, just one month before her and Prince Harry's royal wedding on May 19th, 2018. Adams played the role of Mike Ross for the same seven seasons and left at the same time as Markle, revealing that the reason for his departure was because he wanted to spend more time with his wife and child.
Suits had a total of nine seasons and finally concluded in 2019, although it has seen a resurgence this year since it began streaming on Netflix, even breaking some records in the process.
In one of the pictures which also features co-star Sarah Rafferty, Meghan can be seen lying on her back on the floor with her feet up, wearing a white shirt and a brown mini skirt. In another, Meghan is posing while reclining on a couch with one arm above her head, wearing a gray mini skirt and a white top with her hair styled in a half up and half down do.
Meghan's fans thought she looked great in the now-deleted pictures, and made their opinions known across many social media platforms. On a September 28th Reddit post titled 'What was the point of the Meghan suits photos?' one fan said: "I can't see Meghan being upset about it in a million years. She looks great, Suits is popular again and she’s getting attention for something other than hating the royal family." Another thought that the pictures being posted on Instagram were "positive" for Meghan, and quipped: "3 days of positive PR for her; 3 days of any PR for him."
