World leaders from across the globe gathered at St. Peter’s Basilica to honor the late Pope Francis.
On Saturday, April 26, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump attended his funeral in Vatican City. The couple joined other high-ranking officials, monarchs, and thousands of mourners in the square outside St. Peter’s Basilica to pay their respects.
Melania, who also celebrated her 55th birthday on the same day, chose to wear a lace veil for the occasion.

The mother of one, who also happens to be the first practicing Catholic to serve as First Lady since Jacqueline Kennedy, attended the service in a double-breasted midi coat dress, paired with a traditional veil, gloves, and black stilettos.
The president opted for a classic navy tuxedo. The duo stood side by side as they focused on the emotional event.
Before heading to Rome, the pair was spotted leaving the White House on Friday morning. As they made their way to Marine One, the president and Melania were seen sharing a moment of PDA.

As they walked together, the 78-year-old gently placed his arm around his wife, with whom he has been married for 20 years.
The public display of affection was a rare sight, as the couple typically keeps their PDA low-key. The last time they were seen this close was during the President’s inaugural ball dance after his election win.
Fans on social media quickly reacted to the moment, commenting:
"So sweet he is; he holds her as they walk to Marine One!"
"Melania, you are the best; stand by your man always....he's a keeper and a good man..."
"Beautiful couple. I pray every day for President Trump and our First Lady. Safe travels."
