Melania Trump And Ivanka Trump Have Seemingly Always Had A Frosty Relationship
The 54-year-old Slovenian American former model briefly touched upon her relationship with her stepchildren, with most readers perhaps being most interested in what she had to say about her husband's eldest daughter, as there have been many rumors about their frosty relationship in the past.
It was regularly reported that Melania and Ivanka competed to be the true First Lady during Donald Trump's presidency, which is something the press thought Melania may have subtly (or not-so-subtly!) addressed when she wore an "I Really Don't Care" jacket from Zara while traveling to and from Texas to visit migrant children who had been separated from their parents in 2018.
The press immediately thought it was a message to Ivanka as there was an alleged "internal power struggle" between them, although this was never confirmed. So what did the mom-of-one actually say about Ivanka and the rest of Donald's children in her memoir?
What Did Melania Trump Actually Write About Ivanka Trump (And Donald Trump's Adult Children) In Her Memoir?
Melania and Donald tied the knot in 2005 and welcomed son Barron Trump in 2006. In her memoir, the former model explained what those first few years of Trump family life was like for her, but refrained from writing anything too critical.
"Stepping into a marriage with Donald, I found myself navigating the intricate dynamics of his big family," Melania wrote, adding: "It demanded flexibility and openness, but each moment was a chance to connect, learn, and grow in this new environment."
Melania then went on to say that she formed unique relationships with each of Donald's children, despite many of them already becoming "more independent" by the time they had gotten married. This also included youngest daughter Tiffany, who Melania said was in her "formative years" when she and Donald tied the knot, and referenced that she was living with her mother in California.
"My approach to building relationships with Donald's children has always been grounded in love and respect," Melania continued.
"I recognize their individuality, understanding that, as their stepmother, my role is not to replace their mothers but to nurture a supportive and amicable connection. This perspective has enabled me to cultivate meaningful relationships with each child in a unique way."
Melania Trump Talks About Having 'Disagreements' With Donald Trump's Children – And Donald Trump Himself!
So far so good – so does this mean that Melania brushed past any negative thoughts? Not quite! Although Melania didn't drop any bombshells about her stepchildren, she acknowledged that it wasn't always smooth sailing, and explained that she and her stepchildren have had their disagreements over the years.
"While I may not agree with every opinion or choice expressed by Donald's grown children, nor do I align with all of Donald's decisions, I acknowledge that different viewpoints are a natural aspect of human relationships," she wrote.
"It is essential to remember that each person is deserving of respect and understanding, regardless of disagreements," Melania continued.
"I have focused on creating an environment where everyone feels free to express themselves authentically. Rather than impose my views or critiquing others, I have aimed to be a steady presence, someone they can rely on."
She went on to say that she strongly believes in the following principle: "Don't control, communicate!" She added: "I understand that being possessive is not conducive to a healthy family dynamic.
