In remarks shared with Fox News Digital this week, former First Lady Melania Trump has stated that husband Donald Trump “has my support” in his bid to return to the White House in 2024.

These comments follow a tumultuous time for the Trump family—the former president was recently found guilty in E. Jean Carroll’s defamation case against him, and was indicted last month on charges of falsifying business records during the 2016 presidential race in an alleged hush money scheme to cover up an extramarital affair.

Despite these legal battles, Melania told Fox News Digital that she looks forward to working alongside her husband again to “[restore] hope for the future and [lead] America with love and strength.”

Melania Celebrates 5 Years Of 'Be Best' Initiative

The former First Lady hosted a private luncheon at Mar-a-Lago on May 6th to mark the fifth anniversary of her cornerstone "Be Best" initiative, which focused on major issues facing America's children and the importance of social, emotional, and physical health. "Be Best" particularly advocates against cyberbullying and opioid abuse.

Melania has continued the program after leaving the White House with a "Fostering the Future" initiative to grant computer science scholarships to former foster children. Trump told Fox News Digital, "Since leaving Washington D.C., my commitment to the foster community has grown stronger. At the present time, there are more than 400,000 children in the foster care system, and there is less than a 3% chance of former foster children completing their college education. In fact, many end up on the street, homeless. My objective is to reduce the gap and increase access to higher education for those who leave the foster care system." Two scholarships have already been awarded as part of the "Foster the Future" program.

It seems that Melania is passionate about bringing "Be Best" back to Washington, D.C. and expanding the initiative even further. The former First Lady stated that, if husband Donald is re-elected in 2024, she would continue to "prioritize the well-being and development of children as I have always done," adding, "My focus would continue to be creating a safe and nurturing space for children to learn, grow, and thrive," she said. "If additional problems arise, I will take the time to study them and understand their root causes."

Pushing Through the Public Scrutiny

There has been some question as to Mrs. Trump's feelings on the cheating scandal and legal battles her husband is facing at the moment—she did not accompany the former president to his arraignment in court this April, and has not been seen at any of his campaign events since he announced his reelection bid in November 2022.

However, Melania is definitive in her feelings about the 2024 presidential campaign: "My husband achieved tremendous success in his first administration, and he can lead us toward greatness and prosperity once again," she told Fox News.

Donald Trump is currently the front-runner to be the GOP nominee, outpacing Ron DeSantis by 41 points in a poll conducted among GOP primary voters by Morning Consult.

Melania told Fox News Digital that, if she has the "privilege" to be America's First Lady once again, she would continue to support child-focused initiatives so that all children can receive the "support and resources they need to reach their full potential."
