Michelle Obama Addresses Divorce Rumors
The Becoming author was recently on an episode of Sophia Bush's iHeart Radio podcast, Work in Progress, when she finally addressed the rumors. She was talking of her newfound independence since leaving the white house in 2017. Despite the joy she's finding in pursuing her own goals, she's felt the negative effects as well.
"That's the thing that we as women struggle with—disappointing people," she said. "i mean, so much so that this year people couldn't even fathom that I was making a choice for myself. That they had to assume that my husband and I are divorcing."
Baseless Divorce Rumors
Most of these rumors derive from the fact that Michelle has been notably missing from several public appearances her husband made this year. On January 9th, she did not attend President Jimmy Carter's funeral. Days later, she was absent from Donald Trump's inauguration as well. Then again in March, Barack attended a Los Angeles Clippers game without his wife.
Then, of course, there are the Jennifer Aniston affair rumors, which the Friends star herself has shut down on live television. While on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, she clarified to fans that she's only met the former president "once."
