Michelle Obama has become one of today’s most popular podcast hosts, and her latest episode recently revealed something a little darker about her marriage to the former president.
The previous first lady recently interviewed a famous couples therapist on her podcast, IMO, and it prompted her to expand on something her husband, Barack Obama, does that makes her want to “smack him.” While the conversation was fairly lighthearted, and the Obamas have been standing by their healthy marriage, the comment raised some eyebrows, and a few internet users are getting tired of hearing about her opening up about their occasional struggles. Read more about what she said and the internet’s reaction below.
Michelle Obama Makes A Complaint About Barack Obama While Interviewing A Couples Therapist On Her Podcast
This week, a brand new episode of the 61-year-old's hit podcast, IMO, which she hosts alongside her brother, Craig Robinson, hit streaming platforms and social media. For the latest episode, she and Craig interviewed famous psychoanalyst Dr. Orna Guralnik, who is best known for hosting a series titled Couples Therapy, where she helps real couples with their struggling relationships.
During the podcast, they began speaking about marriage, the keys to a healthy partnership, and relatable moments like the struggles of transitioning into parenting with your spouse, jealousy or envy, and more. After Donald Trump was re-elected for his second term as president, the public has been speculating that there were some marital problems between the Obamas, as Michelle didn't show up to certain events alongside her husband. While she's been working hard to clear and shut down any divorce rumors, she's still not afraid to talk about their relatable struggles as a long-term couple.
At one point, Michelle and Dr. Guralnik began talking about what it would be like if she said everything she wanted to her husband while sitting across the table from him instead of holding in any feelings. "Because how many times does somebody ask, 'What are you thinking about?' And you're like, 'Well, let me make up a thing,'" Michelle said during the episode. "Because I don't actually want to tell you what I was thinking about, which is like, 'The way you're chewing makes me want to smack you upside the head.'"

The Internet Reacts To Michelle's Comments About Barack On Social Media
The retired attorney made her comments in a seemingly lighthearted manner, jokingly mentioning later on, "The girls and I are very irritated with the way Barack chews." Although some people can relate to what she said, some internet users weren't that into what she had to say, as they felt it was another instance of her complaining about her husband of 32 years.
On social media platforms like Instagram, internet users began critiquing her words, with some believing that there is still drama going on between the couple, no matter how many times they've tried to shut down divorce or separation rumors.
"She complains about him constantly," wrote an Instagram user. "It's getting old."
Another user went as far as to comment, "You and your husband hate each other."
"I've actually never heard her say one nice thing about him," added another. "She sounds miserable."
One user called the mom-of-two "privileged and ungrateful," as another wrote that she "complains about everything, not just him."
We'll be curious to see if, after this backlash, the podcast hosts decide to change their tune or make fewer comments about their marriage. But in the meantime, it looks like some viewers are ready for her to switch the subject.
