"A lot of the time, if you don't eat it all, it goes right back to the bread warmer [to be reused]," says Reddit user FernsAreFine, according to Good Housekeeping. Um, ew! That means that you're getting a side of germs with your bread basket!!

Maybe this is the wake up call we needed to finally cut bread out of our diet? Health experts say that avoiding the bread basket is an excellent way to stay on track with your weight loss and stay within your recommended daily calorie intake. "The bread basket is super tempting, but it's ultimately not worth it," says Regina Fazzini, R.D. "You're getting enough calories from your appetizers and main course, so there's no real need for the bread. Plus, you're always served white bread, which isn't doing you or your body any favors."

Fazzini does make a good point there. If you can't resist a warm piece of bread from the bread basket, Fazzini says that you should limit yourself to one piece of bread. She also suggests skipping the olive oil and butter that it comes with, as these could add even more calories to your final total number of calories for the day.
