Protein makes up a large portion of a healthy diet, and there's no better place to get some quality food than at your favorite restaurant. But, it looks like you're going to want to pass on ordering your go-to chicken dish next time, as chefs say the protein is never prepared correctly.

"I will order almost anything when I go out—but never chicken because it tends to be overcooked at most restaurants," executive chef Ryan Ososky tells Reader's Digest. He also said that popular chicken dishes from chain restaurants tend to be overpriced and lacking in originality, making it not worth it.

Apparently, chicken is one of the hardest dishes to perfect. Chefs say that it's difficult to make the meat flavorsome, moist, and stand out against other strong flavors, according to Daily Mail U.K. And, most chain restaurants aren't using the highest quality chicken meat to make your favorite dishes, which is another reason to skip this entrée when dining out.

It looks like chicken isn't the only thing you should be avoiding at chain restaurants. A former employee of a chain restaurant said that most customers aren't aware of how much mold is in the soda gun that's used to fill up their soft drinks. "Soda is the big one," the former employee said when asked what customers should avoid at chain restaurants. "Not only is it incredibly unhealthy, but every single place I've worked at has had mold in their soda gun or machine. I cleaned them, of course, but there’s only one of me and a few million restaurants.”
