North West brushed off the critics and debuted a second finger piercing, following the backlash from her first one in September 2025—sparking fresh commentary about Kim Kardashian’s parenting as she raises four children as a single mom.

The 12-year-old shared a glimpse of her new piercing on her Instagram Stories, showing herself outside at night in front of a store while holding her knuckles up to the camera. Her very first piercing was on her middle finger, and this time, she added one on her index finger, near the knuckle bone.

North West Debuts Second Finger Piercing

The daughter of Kanye West completed the look with her signature blue hair, oversized sunglasses, a Balenciaga shirt, a handbag, and a diamond skull necklace.

While North clearly isn’t bothered by internet opinions on her piercings, fans still flocked to Instagram to share their reactions—and many weren’t thrilled with her choices. Some even blamed Kim for being an absent parent.

"Kim be a parent, not a friend," wrote one user. A second said, "Poor kid, doesn’t stand a chance. Sad," a third noted, "I'm all about the goofy hair and fun makeup. But, just my opinion, piercings should happen at a later age." A fourth claimed, "This speaks volumes. This is why some of these nepo babies become drug addicts or alcoholics and suffer mental health & trauma. All the money in the world will never compensate for or equal parental bonding, memories, or love."

A fifth commented, "This will not end well." A sixth said, "She's 12!!! Growing up WAY too fast. Great parenting, Kim." A sixth quipped, "Imagine the handful when she's 18!! Good god, Kim will be kicking herself for not parenting her child." Someone else added, "Piercings are one thing, but dermal piercings, especially on your hands?! It’s such a terrible infection risk, among other things. Really irresponsible parenting." Another user said, "She is 12!!!!!!!! Why is her mom allowing this?????"

Health Experts Warn Over 'Risky' Dermal Piercing

North first sported a dermal piercing on her middle finger, which has sparked online debate. Both she and her mom have addressed the criticism, with North posting TikToks defending her choice and reassuring viewers that “it’s okay” to be upset.

The single-point, or microdermal, piercing sits flat under the skin and was first seen publicly in August/September 2025.

Last month, she lip-synced to an audio on TikTok, saying, “Why are you crying? How old are you? Just pull it together.” She also added text over the clip that read, “This is for everyone that’s mad over a finger piercing.”

At the time of her first finger piercing, Dr. Donald Grant, a general practitioner and senior clinical advisor at The Independent Pharmacy, weighed in on the situation, describing dermal finger piercings as a particularly “risky” choice—especially for minors.

“Dermal piercings, particularly those placed on the finger, carry risks that can easily be underestimated or attributed to more familiar concerns,” he explained to UNILAD. People often miss the “early signs of irritation or rejection,” chalking them up to dry skin or delayed healing, when the issue may actually be far more serious.

“These symptoms may also be mistaken for an allergic reaction to jewelry, simple overuse of the hands, or mild contact dermatitis,” he warned. “The area is frequently exposed to bacteria through everyday activities, and even small breaks in the surrounding skin can allow an infection to take hold. Signs may include increasing redness, warmth, swelling, or an unusual discharge, and these can worsen if left unaddressed.”
