Olivia Rodrigo surprised Billy Joel‘s Madison Square Garden crowd last week to perform renditions of beloved songs with the rock legend, and fans can’t get enough of her grungy-chic outfit! The “drivers license” hitmaker, 19, joined the “Piano Man” icon, 73, and the two exchanged sweet stories of loving each other’s music before delighting the audience with several duets.
For her performance get-up, Rodrigo donned an edgy and curve-hugging, corseted black top, a pleated, orange-and-black pleated plaid skirt, black lace-up combat boots, and accessorized with a classic black choker necklace.

To complete her concert look, Rodrigo added sheer black tights, and wore her long, dark brown tresses in an elegant half-up, half-down style, and worn in stunning loose waves. To top it all off, Rodrigo rocked a bright red lip, a bold black cat-eye eyeliner wing, voluminous lashes, rosy blush along her cheekbones, and highlighter to emphasize her symmetrical features.
As seen in fan-shot videos from the show, Joel introduced the pop star to his audience and said, “I like her music, and so do my kids.” Before Rodrigo performed her 2021 hit “deja vu,” during his concert, she explained that she was inspired by Joel when writing the track. “I kind of wrote this next song about you,” Rodrigo said to Joel, and the “New York State of Mind” singer smiled when she sang the lines about him.

To make the show even more epic, Joel and Rodrigo then dueted what Joel deemed “the song that was referred to in the last song,” his 1983 hit,”Uptown Girl.” On Instagram, the two musicians expressed how much this moment meant to them, and posted videos from the show with their millions of followers.
Along with a photo and video collection post of her and Joel, Rodrigo wrote in her caption, “literally because you played her uptown girl… such an honor to perform with one of the best songwriters alive last night. Billy Joel 4 life!!!!!” with cute heart emojis, garnering millions of likes and thousands of comments.

While many fans expressed that they were “so happy” for Rodrigo to have performed with Joel (as she is an avid fan of his), others “couldn’t get over” her “super cute outfit” (We can’t either!) Joel also shared images and videos of he and Rodrigo with his Instagram followers.
