Penélope Cruz’s understated yet glamorous custom open back Chanel Haute Couture gown from the Oscars red carpet on Sunday, March 27th blew us away for so many reasons. It was soft, romantic, attention-grabbing and ticked all of our boxes for a ‘Best Actress in a Leading Role’ nominee. But the Parallel Mothers actress went in a totally different sartorial direction for the second part of the night, swapping the dreamy elegance for something figure-hugging, attention-grabbing, and totally jaw-dropping; and we are here for it!
The 47-year-old Spanish actress put her enviable curves on display in a stunning silver plunging dress with a super-daring high slit on the side to attend Gucci’s legendary 14th annual Academy Awards afterparty which was held at the Los Angeles home of talent manager Guy Oseary. She accessorized her provocative dress with matching silver heels and earrings, and it’s safe to say that she was a total knockout!

As well as being joined by husband Javier Bardem, Penélope was also joined by the likes of ‘Best Actress’ winner Jessica Chastain, as well as Gucci ambassador Dakota Johnson, Kaia Geber, Jennifer Lawrence, Andrew Garfield, Mila Kunis, Robert De Niro, Kim Kardashian, Snoop Dogg, and many, many more. The event – known as ‘The Party’ – was half party, half photoshoot, as Penélope was among the many guests who was stunningly photographed by JR. In her picture, Cruz can be seen posing with portraits of Javier Bardem and Pedro Almodóvar, which is definitely an interesting alternative to the traditional red carpet poses!
As the exclusive event had a no cellphones policy, we bet the A-list attendees were grateful to have their stunning looks captured by the professional French photographer, because they were too good to miss! As much as we adored Penélope’s princess moment on the Oscars red carpet, we’re obsessed with her figure-flaunting silver dress, and are delighted that JR was on hand to capture her look so wonderfully!
