Pete Davidson still has Ariana Grande on his mind despite the fact they called off their engagement all the way back in October 2018. The comedian recently had a lot to say about his ex in his new Netflix stand-up special, Alive From New York, and he definitely didn’t hold back.
The 26-year-old Saturday Night Live star has played nice since things ended with the “God is a Woman” singer more than one year ago. Davidson chose not to run his mouth about Grande—that is, until now.
Davidson didn’t hold back in the comedy special, which recently dropped in February 2020. As reported by Refinery29, Davidson finally responded to Grande publicly calling him an “amazing distraction” during their “frivolous and fun and insane and highly unrealistic” relationship in her Vogue cover interview in 2019.

“I wasn’t gonna do jokes about this but then my buddy told me, ‘You, I’ve recently heard that Ariana said she had no idea who you were, and she just dated you as a distraction.” So now I just think it’s fair game,” Davidson said during his special. “And you’re like, ‘Pete, this isn’t fair. You’re airing out dirty laundry. How could you do that? Where did she say this stuff? To her friends in the confidence of her own home?’ No, she said it on the cover of Vogue magazine.”
Davidson continued to say that his career would be over if he was in Grande's shoes at the time of the Vogue interview. “Can you imagine if I did that?” Davidson asked. “My career would be over tomorrow. If I spray-painted myself brown and hopped on the cover of Vogue magazine and just started shitting on my ex.”
Davidson and Grande certainly experienced a whirlwind relationship since the beginning. The former couple started dating in spring 2018 and quickly got engaged just a few months later in the summertime. The sudden relationship took a sharp turn when Grande’s former ex-boyfriend Mac Miller died suddenly in September 2018, which was then followed by Grande and Davidson calling off their brief engagement.
