Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Could 'Consider' Returning To The UK And Senior Royal Duties
Royal experts and commentators are already speculating about what a return might look like...
Podcaster and self-confessed royal watcher Kristen Meinzer told Daily Express US that Prince Harry's comeback – whether solo or alongside the former Suits actress – is very much on the table, and could even be discussed during his upcoming trip to the U.K. for the anniversary of the Queen's death on September 8th.
"Harry has repeatedly said that it was never his intention to completely surrender his senior royal duties," Meinzer explained, adding: "In a perfect world, he and Meghan would have been able to do what Edward and Sophie did early on in their marriage – pursue their own passions while also serving the crown."
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Just Want 'Flexibility'
The comment referred to Prince Harry's uncle and aunt, Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, who essentially enjoyed a half-in, half-out arrangement. But as Meinzer pointed out, "the Queen did not grant Harry and Meghan the same opportunity, nor did the institution treat the racism Meghan faced with the seriousness it warranted."
She added: "But Charles is not his mother. And if he arranged for their duties to have both some flexibility and a great deal of safety, I think Harry and Meghan would certainly consider accepting the opportunity."
For now, any royal engagements Prince Harry takes on are expected to be solo, as he continues to push for stronger security for Meghan and their two children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4. But if the couple gets what they've long wanted, their long-discussed half-in, half-out role could finally become a reality. Watch this space!
