May is turning out to be a busy month for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Not only is their son Prince Archie celebrating his fifth birthday on May 6th, but Prince Harry is also coming to the U.K. for the Invictus Games’ 10th anniversary at St Paul’s Cathedral on May 8th. But that’s not all, as it’s been confirmed that the couple will be going on an ‘unofficial’ royal visit to Nigeria later in the month!

The visit is being referred to as ‘unofficial’ as the couple can no longer take part in official royal engagements since stepping down as senior royals in 2020.

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Will Be Visiting Nigeria This Month

According to Vanity Fair, the country is keen to host the Invictus Games in the not-so-distant future. The country's acting director of defense information, Tukur Gusau, said in a statement: "The Defense Headquarters has expressed its honor and delight for the acceptance of the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, and his wife, the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan, to visit Nigeria in May 2024."

The statement added: "The visit is to consolidate Nigeria's strong hold at the game and the possibility of hosting the event in later years."

During their time in Nigeria, the couple will reportedly meet the country's chief of defense staff after meeting at last year's Invictus Games. They are also set to take part in "cultural activities" and will meet service personnel and their families.

Meghan Markle Previously Revealed She Is 43 Percent Nigerian

The former Suits actress will undoubtedly be extra-excited for the visit, as she previously revealed that she is 43 percent Nigerian.

Speaking to Nigerian-American comedian Ziwe Fumudoh on her Archetypes Spotify podcast, Meghan said at the time: "I just had my genealogy done a couple years ago. 43 percent Nigerian. I'm going to start to dig deeper into all this because anybody that I've told, especially Nigerian women, are like, 'What!'"

Rumors Rage Around Prince Harry's Visit To The UK

The Nigeria trip will take place after Prince Harry's visit to the U.K., which is getting a *lot* of media attention. It's currently unknown whether Prince Harry will meet with his father, as an insider revealed that the King's schedule may be too hectic to find time to meet with his son.

Nobody seems to know whether he will meet with estranged brother Prince William, either, as he is also said to be very busy with royal engagements, not to mention personal matters amid Kate Middleton's cancer battle. There have also been many reports suggesting that Prince William wouldn't want to meet his younger brother anyway, as he still hasn't forgiven him for his bombshell memoir, Spare.

Meghan Markle is also getting a lot of media attention, as The Express reported that a spokesperson confirmed that she will *not* be joining Prince Harry in the U.K., which many have perceived as a major snub. Former newspaper editor Kelvin MacKenzie reportedly told GB News that Meghan "likes the title" of the Duchess of Sussex, as she keeps using it, but doesn't seem to like the country.

"Meghan has announced instead of coming to the U.K. to perhaps rally around the Royal Family in difficult times, both with the King and Kate, and what does she do? She nips over to Nigeria," he said.

"She keeps the title rather than coming back to the U.K., she gives a V sign to the people. She likes the title but doesn't like the country. Why doesn't she just say so?"
