King Charles and Queen Camilla embarked on their highly-anticipated visit to the U.S. at the end of last month, in aid of celebrating the 250th anniversary of American independence, as well as strengthening relations between the two nations.
As expected, the spotlight was firmly on the King and Queen Consort. However, some attention was also unexpectedly drawn to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, as the couple appeared on the front cover of People magazine at the same time… and it didn’t go down well on social media!

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Accused Of Trying To Overshadow King Charles And Queen Camilla's State Visit
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have previously been accused of sharing big news on days that appear to overshadow other members of the royal family – and critics believe they've done it yet again with their latest magazine cover, which the internet claims is attempting to upstage the state visit.
Prince Harry may be feeling somewhat resentful about the state visit, as his father reportedly had the opportunity to meet him and his wife – and perhaps even their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet – while he was in the U.S., but scrapped those plans.
The magazine cover (check it out here) features the line, "Harry and Meghan making their own rules." Further down, it quotes Prince Harry as saying: "I am doing the things I was born to do." This appears to echo comments he made during his controversial ITV interview with Tom Bradby, when he insisted he would always be part of the royal family despite no longer being a working royal.
People dropped the cover on its Instagram account on April 29th – a date royal fans will instantly recognize as Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding anniversary. Their 15th wedding anniversary, no less. Coincidence? The internet thinks not!

As expected, the cover dropping on the Prince and Princess of Wales' 15th wedding anniversary, and during the King and Queen Consort's U.S. trip, did not go unnoticed on social media. And as we mentioned earlier, it did not go down well!
"Wow, they're trying to steal the spotlight from Charles and Camilla's visit to the US. Not shocked at all," wrote one Instagram user on People's post. "They can't even let KCIII have his moment. It's all about them, always," agreed a second.
"They left the BRF 6 years ago yet are still the most talked about and most reported on. KCIII is in the US, but Meghan and Harry are on the cover," echoed a third, as a fourth commented: "Fascinating how they always time these 'announcements' or headlines to coincide with achievements of the RF. William & Catherine celebrating 15 years of marriage and KCIII in the U.S. is more newsworthy than those two."
"What a joke. The King should be on the cover or the Prince and Princess of Wales with their 15-year wedding anniversary. These two are grifters," slammed a fifth, as a sixth thought: "They're trying to compete with King Charles. What are the chances this cover and article would come out while his father was in the US. And the 15th anniversary of the Prince and Princess of Wales. Hungry for attention!"
"I wonder how much they paid to have this dropped on Prince William and Princess Catherine's 15th wedding anniversary?" asked a seventh dubious user, as an eighth quipped: "What will be their earth-shattering news when it is William's coronation day?"
"Boycott this issue," demanded a ninth, as a tenth asked: "Why this week?" "What a ridiculous cover!" exclaimed an eleventh, as a twelfth called them "pathetic career grifters." "Who cares about these 2 grifters? They are irrelevant," added a thirteenth, as a fourteenth begged: "Make. It. Stop. The public needs a break from these two grifters."
"Irrelevant couple trying hard to [upstage] real royals," said a fifteenth, followed by three sideways laughing crying emojis, adding: "No matter how much PR they pay, they are ridiculous." A sixteenth felt the same way, and wondered: "How much did they pay People magazine to feature them on the cover?"
