Things seemed to be on the up and up for Prince Harry and the rest of the royal family after he flew home for his grandfather Prince Philip’s funeral on April 17, but it now looks as though things aren’t quite as they seem as he promptly returned home to California, skipping Queen Elizabeth’s 95th birthday. While it’s more than likely that Prince Harry never intended to make an extended stay in England, eyebrows were raised when he failed to attend his grieving grandmother’s birthday party.

It’s been widely reported that the relationship between Prince Harry and the rest of the royal family has been strained following his marriage to Meghan Markle and their joint interview with Oprah in March, but there seemed to be a light at the tunnel when reports emerged that the Harry and his brother Prince William were speaking again prior to the funeral. Additionally, images emerged from the service showing the brothers walking side by side, creating hope that a reconciliation was at hand.
However, when Prince Harry quickly returned to California and failed to attend the Queen’s birthday party, onlookers wondered if the relationships were still as fraught as they had been before the service. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have embarked on a number of lucrative business ventures since they took their official leave from the palace last year, and it seems that Harry’s swift exit from the UK may have been related to another business meeting.
Page Six reported that Prince Harry was spotted having lunch with philanthropist Wallis Annenberg on the day of his grandmother’s birthday, although it’s yet to be reported what the pair was discussing while they dined at San Vicente Bungalows. It’s unclear where the royal family stands now with the estranged couple following the Prince’s absence at his grandmother’s party, but it’s also a possibility that Harry simply returned to California to spend time with his pregnant wife.
