Prince Harry's Remembrance Day Essay
Prince Harry served in the British Army from 2005 through 2015 and was deployed to Afghanistan on two separate occasions, from 2007-2008 and from 2012-2013. Following his service, he founded the Invictus Games, an Olympic-style event for wounded, injured, and sick service members and veterans.
It's clear why Remembrance Day would be an event he holds close to his heart, and it's clear from the content of the letter that he was feeling emotional while writing it. The essay, titled, "The Bond, The Banter, The Bravery: What it means to be British - by Prince Harry," not only touches on his time as an active member of the British military, shows that Harry has not completely forgotten about his roots.
"Though currently, I may live in the United States, Britain is, and always will be, the country I proudly served and fought for," he wrote. "The banter of the mess, the clubhouse, the pub, the stands ridiculous as it sounds, these are the things that make us British. I make no apology for it. I love it."

Royal Experts Allege Regret
Royal experts Richard Fitzwilliams and Helena Chard weighed in on the essay, pointing at the undertone of regret. "Harry's essay on Remembrance Day showed him at his best and also highlighted his status as an exile," Fitzwilliams pointed out. "Exiles feel deep regret," he added. "[Harry] is bound to have very deep regrets."
Chard agreed, noting that despite attending a lot of high-profile events in the United States, Harry likely misses his life in the UK. "'I'm sure he misses parts of his previous life in the UK," she said. "I don't believe the celebrity world floats Prince Harry's boat."
