Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly already convinced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are trying to steal their thunder. Remember how they released the trailer for the controversial Netflix Harry & Meghan docuseries when they were in America for the Earthshot Prize Awards and fans and experts alike deemed that the timing was no coincidence?
Well, the Prince and Princess of Wales, both 41, are reportedly worried that the Duke of Sussex, 38, could partly overshadow the one-year anniversary of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s death, as he is expected to be in the U.K. at the same time as the royal family’s private memorial.
The Royal Family Are Expected To Hold Private Memorial For The Late Queen Elizabeth II At Balmoral
Although there will be no big public memorial for the late Queen Elizabeth II, according to the latest reports, the royal family *are* intending to hold a private and intimate memorial for the late monarch in Balmoral, which is not only the location of her passing, but the place she reportedly felt the happiest.
The family will reportedly hold the memorial on September 8th, exactly one year to the day of her passing, while Prince Harry is expected to be in the U.K. on September 7th to attend the WellChild Awards in London, where he is due to give a speech. As things stand, he is expected to travel to the U.K. alone, leaving wife Meghan Markle, 42, and their two children, Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2, at home in Montecito, California.
Prince William And Kate Middleton Are Reportedly 'Irritated' That Prince Harry Will Be In The UK
According to the Daily Beast, insiders revealed that William and Kate are "irritated" by Prince Harry giving a speech at the awards, as he would most likely be paying tribute to his late grandmother just one day before the one-year anniversary of her death. They feel that this could potentially "overshadow" their own memorial for the late monarch.
"It is increasingly hard to work out what Harry wants to be and do. He was appointed to be a patron of WellChild because he was a member of the royal family," an insider, who is said to be a friend of Prince William's, reportedly told the Daily Beast. "Now this is something that he apparently wants to carry on doing in his capacity as a private individual," they continued, adding, "William and Kate will be irritated, especially by the date, but will just ignore it. What else can they do?"
King Charles, On The Other Hand, Doesn’t Appear To Be Worried
A friend of King Charles' reportedly told the outlet that the current monarch isn’t fazed about what his younger son will get up to when he visits the U.K. "Harry is a private citizen. What he does on the anniversary of the Queen’s death is entirely a matter for him," the insider said, adding, "The King certainly won’t be changing his plans in reaction to what Harry is doing."
The insider also touched on whether they thought King Charles would be concerned that Prince Harry's appearance at the WellChild awards could pull focus from the late Queen's memorial, and said: "I don’t think anybody is under any illusions about the challenges that they face going forward with Harry. But the bigger picture here is that this is the anniversary of the monarch’s death, people will want to mark it in different ways."
