The late Prince Philip is known for his unfiltered, off-the-cuff, and often controversial remarks – a stark contrast to the always composed and graceful late Queen Elizabeth II, who dedicated her life to duty.

But this view of the late monarch makes a resurfaced clip of her seemingly losing patience with a photographer even more shocking! Keep reading to find out more…

The Late Queen Elizabeth II Refuses Photographer Annie Leibovitz’ Request To Remove Her Crown

A resurfaced video of a behind-the-scenes moment between famed photographer Annie Leibovitz and the late Queen is once again making the rounds online. And it’s because the Queen was *so* unimpressed with the photographer’s seemingly bizarre request to modify her outfit!

Leibovitz has shot everyone from Angelina Jolie to Sofía Vergara, and is known for pushing creative boundaries. (Who can forget those bathtub pictures?!) And when she asked the Queen – the actual Queen of England who is possibly the only person who we can expect to wear a crown – to take hers off for a “less dressy look,” it’s safe to say she wasn’t on board with the request!

Leibovitz can be heard saying Her Majesty might look “better without the crown” for a “less dressy” look, prompting the Queen to point to her elaborate robe and retort: “Less dressy? What do you think this is?”

The late Queen then decided that she had enough of the conversation and the shoot as a whole. While walking away, she said: “I’m not changing anything, I’ve done enough dressing like this. Thank you very much.” Brilliant!

Social Media Reactions

As expected, the internet had many thoughts, most of them in disbelief that Leibovitz actually asked Her Majesty that question, and also praising the Queen for her comeback.

"Diva," raved one fan, followed by the red heart emoji. "I mean telling the Queen to take her crown off sounds like something nobody should do," joked a second. "Literally telling royalty to take off the crown would have gotten your head lobbed a century or so ago," quipped a third, followed by the crying laughing emoji, as a fourth declared: "Don't tell the queen what to do."

"Imagine telling the dressed Queen she's too dressy," wrote a fifth, as a sixth asked: "Did this lady really say that taking the crown off would be less dressy? She's literally wearing a cape." "Less dressy?! Miss Ma'am She's literally the Queen she can be as dressy as she wants," added a seventh.

"The Queen letting Annie Leibovitz know she's the effing Queen. The audacity to ask. It's a royal portrait. There will never be another like her," stated an eighth, adding: "She was beloved and tried to lead with quiet strength. Not perfect by a long shot all while serving the country she loved for 60 years."

"I love this every time," gushed a ninth. "Good for her. I miss her fire," wrote a tenth, followed by the fire emoji. "I'm no fan of the Monarchy. But me and Elizabeth were on the same page there!" exclaimed an eleventh, followed by the crying laughing emoji.
