Kelly Clarkson‘s fanbase has been extremely worried about her ever since it was announced that her ex-husband and the father of her children, Brandon Blackstock, had recently passed away. Now, a country icon and one of her former family members has given the world an update on her family’s doing.
Reba McEntire, the stepmother of Blackstock and friend of Kelly’s, recently gave an interview to update the public on how their entire family has been dealing with the tragic loss, and how the television host’s children have been getting along without their dad. The update didn’t come long after other insiders reported that Kelly was “devastated,” before it was revealed that her talk show would be returning later this month. Reba McEntire Opens Up About How Kelly Clarkson's Family Has Been Dealing With The Aftermath Of Brandon Blackstock's Death
Last month, the world and fans of the "Because of You" singer were shocked when they learned that her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, a talent manager and the father of her two children, was very ill and eventually passed away due to cancer. Days before, Kelly canceled a handful of her Las Vegas shows, revealing his illness, and his death was announced just days later.
Since then, fans have been showing concern for the mom-of-two and how she's been dealing with the loss of Brandon, who was only 48 years old, despite opening up about their painful divorce in the last few years. The couple married in 2013 and finalized their divorce in 2022, going back and forth in court for two years.
While she hasn't spoken out much since the death of her children's father, one person in her life, country star Reba McEntire, who was Brandon's stepmother, opened up about how their family's been doing, explaining that they've been missing him "every minute," during an interview at the 2025 Emmy Awards.
"The kids are doing well, they're all bonding together and hanging out with each other, and taking it one day at a time," she told Entertainment Tonight.

Inside Sources Claim Kelly's Been 'Devastated' Following The Loss Of Brandon
While losing an ex can be a complicated situation, sources have claimed that the Kelly Clarkson Show host has been feeling Brandon's loss very deeply, and that she's been going through a very difficult time trying to be strong for her children, River and Remy, who are 11 and 9 years old.
Not long after his family announced his passing on August 7th, an inside source told People that Kelly was "heartbroken" about Brandon.
"Kelly and Brandon had their ups and downs, but at the end of the day, he was the father of her children, and she is absolutely heartbroken for them," the source claimed. "Her kids are her entire world, and she's staying strong for their sake."
Although she still has yet to make an official statement regarding her ex's passing, fans of her talk show are a bit relieved, as they announced the new season of the successful daytime series will air next week on Monday, September 29th, and many are waiting to see if she'll address her family's hardship on air.
