The Internet Is Losing It After Rihanna Releases ‘Garbage’ New Song For ‘Smurfs’ Movie: ‘This Is Horrible’

Rihanna’s fans have been begging her to release new music for years, but it seems the only thing to get Rihanna into the recording studio is (another) new Smurfs movie. However, the song she came out with, “Friend of Mine,” is not cutting it for fans, some of whom are calling it “unlistenable” and “god awful.” Keep reading for more information.

The latest film from the Smurfs franchise, simply titled Smurfs, is coming out July 18th, but the “Friend of Mine” music video was released as a teaser for the film. Though Rihanna stuns in the music video, walking through a life-sized Smurf village in a belted leather trench coat, the music itself is a bit of a let down.

Fans have complained that she barely sings any lyrics, with the song mostly just repeating the line, “You feel like a friend of mine.” There’s also some pretty extensive autotune usage, which fans are calling “unnecessary” in the comment section of the YouTube video. It’s safe to say that fans were wanting more and Rihanna failed to deliver.
