Rihanna shut down the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever premiere last week in a shimmering, gray, sequined Rick Owens gown that highlighted her incredible curves (and further promoted her style icon status). While gracing the Los Angeles red carpet on October 26th, the Grammy winner, 34, celebrated her new single, “Lift Me Up,” which appears on the Marvel film’s official soundtrack, and sweetly pays homage to the late Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman (who tragically passed away from colon cancer in August 2020).

The “Needed Me” hitmaker arrived with her boyfriend A$AP Rocky, 34, who matched her in a coordinating gray ensemble with a black t-shirt underneath. The “Love On The Brain” singer’s strapless dress featured glistening gray fabric, sultry periwinkle lines outlining her figure, and wrap-around, layered details (that seemed to be inspired by 1930s fashion, as WWD indicated). To complete her stunning get-up, Rihanna stepped out in matching, pointed-toe Giuseppe Zanotti sandal heels and accessorized with opera gloves for an Old Hollywood-esque effect.

The mom of one also shined with the help of intricate bejeweled cuff earrings by Reza Ruban, and wore her long, black tresses to the side and styled into elegant waves. As for her makeup look, Rihanna emphasized her hazel eyes with sparkly silver eye shadow, black liner and voluminous lashes while also adding a dash of rosy blush and going for a 90s-inspired, outlined glossy nude lip.

Rihanna’s “Lift Me Up” not only sets an emotional tone for the sequel to 2018’s Black Panther, but also marks her long-awaited return to music. The single is her first solo musical output since her acclaimed eighth studio album, 2016’s ANTI. On the day of this red carpet premiere, the pop star teased the song on social media, and it made its way to streaming services two days later. Since then, it continues to amass millions of streams and garner both critical and fan acclaim.
