In May, Today host Sheinelle Jones, Uche, Ojeh, to an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma. Understandably, Jones left the show to grieve and be there for their three young children. Fans have been sending prayers and keeping Jones in their thoughts, so when Savannah Guthrie gave an update earlier this week on Sheinelle’s return to the show, fans were elated. Savannah Guthrie Announces Sheinelle's Return to 'Today'
On September 2nd, Savannah made the announcement in a video she posted to her Instagram page. "This Friday, our beloved Sheinelle will be returning to the show," she said. "She and her family have been through so much after the devastating loss of her husband, Uche, and we recently sat down together. We shared a really personal conversation, talking about how she has carried on and found the strength these last few months. She calls this experience a 'beautiful nightmare,' and she has thoughts on grief that are so touching."
"[Sheinelle's] got a special message of hope, too," Guthrie continued, "for anybody facing their own struggles, and we will share that with you. We cannot wait to welcome Sheinelle home, right where she belongs, right here in our studio, Studio 1A."
