Many people are already familiar with the Starbucks Rewards Stars - a loyalty program that allows you to earn points on everything you spend at the coffee chain. The points can be spent on your following purchases at Starbucks. Basically, the more you spend at Starbucks, the more free stuff you get.
But now, Starbucks has made it even easier to earn Stars.
Previously, the only way you could earn Starbucks Reward Stars was through putting money onto a preloaded card on the coffeeshop's app. With this method, you have to spend your money on coffee in advance, rather than at the time of your actual Starbucks purchase. But this is changing.
Starting on September 15, you can earn Rewards Stars from Starbucks with other payment methods, too. This includes cash, credit cards or mobile payments.
There is still a perk to using a preloaded payment card on the Starbucks app to pay. Using the app will earn you 2 Stars for every $1 you spend, while using cash, credit card or a mobile payment option will only accrue 1 Star per $1.
But either way, Starbucks is making it so much easier to earn free drinks on everything you spend.
