One of the first clues which eagle-eyes fans spotted took place on TikTok. It wasn't something the "Love On" singer posted, but rather, something – or someone – she followed!
Fans pointed out on Reddit that she briefly started following the CMG Weddings and Events account on TikTok, which she could have followed to get tips for their rumored future wedding.
The second clue came last month, after gossip account Deuxmoi posted about an anonymous source claiming that an "A-list actress and semi-retired singer" got engaged "to her boyfriend of a year." There could be a few actresses who fit that description, but the thing that made fans believe it was Selena was that the anonymous source claimed the couple "were surrounded by friends at their usual beach hangout." As Selena celebrated her birthday at the beach last month, fans started putting two and two together.
"I think she's implying Selena Gomez got engaged. It's Deuxmoi so I'll take it with a grain or until I see it on Instagram," one dubious fan wrote on Reddit, as a second exclaimed: "I hope this is true! They seem great together." "I would be so happy to see them get married," added another, which another echoed, writing: "So happy for them!"
The third clue took place on Instagram earlier this month, as fans noticed that the Wizards of Waverly Place alum strategically placed two pink heart emojis over her left finger in a mirror selfie shared to her Instagram Story, leading them to believe she was hiding an engagement ring.
The "Lose You to Love Me" singer was also hiding her left ring finger in some selfies she shared to Instagram a few days later, which also caused them to believe that she was concealing a giant sparkler.
The post was shared with her 424M Instagram followers on August 20th, and started off with a throwback video of her getting emotional when she found out she got the part in the French film Emilia Perez. In that same carousel were two mirror selfies, both of which suspiciously had the "Wolves" singer's left hand and left ring finger hidden.

A source reportedly told Life & Style earlier this month that the singer *is* actually wearing a ring on *that* finger, and will make an engagement announcement when the time is right!
"Selena has been wearing a ring on that finger. It's just a matter of time before she and Benny make an official announcement," the source reportedly said, adding: "Selena's never been happier, and she's told everyone that he's the one. Benny makes her feel like a queen every day. He's everything she could want in a husband."
