There’s a very good chance that Selena Gomez will be attending the 81st Golden Globe Awards at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills on January 7th, as she has been nominated for a ‘Best Actress in a Television Series Musical or Comedy’ category for her role in Only Murders in the Building. And we’re extra-excited about Selena walking this year’s Golden Globes red carpet, because last year’s seductive and dramatic look is still living rent-free in our minds!

Selena was also nominated for the same award last year, but lost to Quinta Brunson, who took home the award for her role in Abbott Elementary. However, Selena was still a red-carpet winner to us, and we cannot wait to see her look at this year’s ceremony!

Selena Gomez Stuns In Valentino Couture Gown For 2023 Golden Globes

The 31-year-old Rare Beauty founder pulled out all the stops for her Golden Globes appearance last year. She walked the red carpet with her ten-year-old little sister Gracie Teefey as her date, and looked incredible in a figure-hugging velvet Valentino Fall 2022 Haute Couture gown with a super-sexy thigh high slit.

The dress featured a square cutout on the chest, while the exaggerated off-the-shoulder puffy purple sleeves extended into a floor-length shawl. For accessories, the Wizards of Waverly Place alum wore De Beers diamond drop earrings, a Volute Pear diamond ring set, and the Adonis Rose pear diamond ring set. Her hair was styled by Marissa Marino in a sleek yet fierce high ponytail, while her makeup consisted of a complementary lilac-colored eye shadow and a matte pink lip.

Selena Gomez Addresses Body Shamers' Comments On Instagram

Selena's fans were obsessed with last year's look; but a few internet trolls felt the need to criticize her body, which might not be the smallest it's ever been. Although it doesn't seem like Selena – an advocate for body positivity – took the negative, body shaming comments that we don't want to republish to heart, she *did* actually seem to address them in an Instagram Live taken from inside a car with her little sister – and we love her even more for it!

"I'm a little bit big right now because I enjoyed myself during the holidays," the "Lose You To Love Me" singer said in the video at the time, which was later shared on TikTok. She then turned to her sister and asked, "I mean, right?" to which Gracie replied, "Yeah," which resulted in Selena adding, "But we don't care," and bursting into laughter, as Miley Cyrus' song "Do My Thang" can be heard playing in the car.

Selena's Fans Applaud Her 'Beautiful' Curves In The Comments

Luckily, the rest of the internet didn't feel the same way as the internet trolls, as Selena's fans flooded all sorts of comments sections with praise about her "healthy and beautiful" appearance – just as they did a few weeks prior to the Golden Globes when she posted some pictures of herself in a bikini while on vacation in Mexico.

Commenting on the TikTok video of Selena and Gracie, one fan said, "She shouldn't have to explain why her body looks how it does," to which one replied, "Right but it's the internet I guess." Another fan echoed this, writing: "She must feel very insecure about people seeing her in those kind of events. She's perfect and doesn't need to give explanations." "It's sad that people have to address or 'justify' any little gain or loss," said another. "She literally looks healthy and happy… people need to shut their mouths!" added another fan. "She doesn't have to explain herself. She's beautiful always," said another.

Many others confirmed that Selena "isn't even big," with another fan saying, "She's beautiful in any shape!" and another adding, "She looks GOOD like what is wrong with people." "She's not even a little big man she's so beautiful I wish people wouldn't say stuff like that to people," added another, while many others slammed the haters and asked all critics to let Selena live her life.

"She's LIVING. As she should," noted another, followed by a red heart emoji. "Hope she sees this and knows that she's beautiful," added another, while someone else exclaimed, "Protect her at all costs!" "Selena deserves the world & I'm so sad that people are even commenting on her body to the point that she has to address it," wrote another disappointed fan, followed by a sad face emoji. "She's absolutely glowing," gushed another fan, followed by the twinkling stars emoji, while another quite rightly said, "She looked like a queen." "She is beautiful and the most real representation of women there is," stated another fan.
