Selena Gomez Dons A Strapless Deep Purple Valentino Gown For The Golden Globes
The actress and singer was nominated for two Golden Globes for her role in Only Murders in the Building. Selena was nominated for Best Television Actress in a Musical or Comedy Series category and the Hulu series was nominated for Best TV Series–Musical or Comedy. For her award-show look, Selena worked with her longtime stylist Kate Young.
Selena’s strapless black gown had a square slit detail on her chest and a maxi-style fit, with a slight slit on the skirt. Her billowy, puffy purple sleeves led into a shawl-like floor-length shawl. She slipped into a pair of classic open-toed heels.
For accessories, she wore De Beers jewelry including diamond earrings set in platinum, the Volute Pear diamond ring set in platinum, and the Adonis Rose pear diamond ring set in platinum. Selena’s hair was styled into a sleek, playful high ponytail and her makeup consisted of a lilac-colored eye shadow and a matte pink lip which coordinated with the purple in her dress.

Selena Gomez Responds To Body-Shaming Comments After The Golden Globes
After photos and videos of Selena at The Golden Globes began circling around social media, tons of ruthless internet trolls were quick to critique her body and make harmful comments, body-shaming her about her appearance.
But the “Who Says” singer has always been outspoken about body positivity and wasn’t going to let the hate get to her. She openly addressed her critics during an Instagram live stream after the award show.
In the live stream, which was re-posted to TikTok, Selena is seen in the car with her little sister Gracie, her plus-one for the event, as she explains that she has gained a little weight after celebrating the holidays—and that there’s nothing wrong with that, “I’m a little bit big right now because I enjoyed myself during the holidays,” she candidly stated. “Right?” she said as her 9-year-old sister nodded.
Commenters wholeheartedly agreed. “I don’t understand why people have to be so mean. Why comment on anyone’s appearance? It’s not necessary. We are so much more than our looks,” one person commented on TikTok in support of Selena while another said, “She shouldn’t have to explain why her body looks how it does” with a frowny face emoji. “She looks happy and healthy and that’s all that should matter!” someone else pointed out. Other fans also loved her little sister, “Her sister agreeing” with a crying face emoji.

Selena Gomez Brought Her Little Sister Gracie To The Awards Show
The Rare Beauty founder brought her little sister, Gracie Teefer, to the 2023 Golden Globes and it was absolutely adorable.
While Selena wore a dramatic black Valentino gown, Gracie donned a silver and gold dress with sequins. The icon, who is the actress’s half-sister, also wore a matching sequined handbag and sequined shoes with bows. So cute!
“I will forever let my sister know she is strong, bold, and beautiful,” Selena wrote on Instagram in 2017 about her sister. “She will be raised to know her voice matters. She is going to understand the importance behind being a leader and inspire others by her truth.”
