Selena Gomez has been single for the last 2 years, but the songstress was spotted out last week on what appeared to be a romantic date with NBA star Jimmy Butler and fans can hardly contain their excitement. The multi-talented actress has had her love life under public scrutiny for years with two high-profile relationships in the books, but it seems like she wants to keep this new romance on the DL. Gomez, who has been notably single since 2018 when she and Justin Bieber ended things for good, has repeatedly commented on her relationship status and singledom, releasing the song ‘Boyfriend’ in April, and commenting to YouTube makeup artist Nikki de Jager that while she always says she wants a relationship, she doesn’t actually mean it because, “Guys are a lot of work.”
Butler, the NBA star most recently linked to Selena, just welcomed his first daughter Rylee in October of 2019 with then-girlfriend Kaitlin Nowak, but seems to be on the market to date after being seen with Gomez. The pair were spotted out for dinner at Lucien in New York City, where the star is currently filming her new Hulu show Only Murder in the Building.
From her public relationship with fellow singer The Weeknd in 2017, and her final reunion with Justin Bieber in 2018, Gomez has been under the microscope for years as fans and tabloids alike try to speculate on her love affairs and what they mean. It’s no wonder she wants this new romance to be more secretive!
While the pair have yet to comment on the status of their budding relationship, it looks like things are off to a good start between the singer and NBA player. Gomez has taken the last two years off from entering a new relationship, so we’re sure whoever she ends up dating next is going to be quite the catch! We wish them the best of luck!
