On July 16, the singer released her newest single (and first English song since 2016): “Don’t Wait Up.” She also teased the tune on social with a pre-save link and a short video of a text conversation that urged her text partner not to wait up for her. As “Don’t Wait Up” is reportedly the lead single for Shakira’s upcoming album and her first solo release since 2017, she wowed fans even further with an accompanying music video.

The official music video for “Don’t Wait Up” shows Shakira catching some waves in the moonlight and showing off her slick dance floor moves. While paddling around on a neon surfboard, she wears a gorgeous gold two-piece bikini, with matching sparkly fabric that drapes across her midriff. Is it supposed to be a dress? It’s totally sheer!

To clear up the confusion, Shakira told People that the surfing outfit was a “compromise.” Because she doesn’t like cold water, she wanted to be in a wetsuit, while the director envisioned her in a bikini.
