Taco Bell Raised Its Prices–Including A $7 Burrito!—And Customers Are So Mad: ‘No Longer For The Poor’

There’s a lot to love about Taco Bell: Those delicious nacho fries, tasty Baja Blasts, and the recurring menu items we can’t get enough of. Unfortunately, though, alongside many other restaurants, this Mexican-inspired fast food chain has been hiking prices due to inflation.

While people may be willing to make a bit of a splurge on their favorite fast food items, many customers think the prices are reaching ridiculous rates that they won’t stand for anymore (especially when they’ve gotten rid of some beloved menu items). In fact, some are drawing the line at a $7 burrito. Find all the info on Taco Bell’s flabbergasting high prices below.

Taco Bell prices continue to rise

The fall (or, should we say, rise) of cheap Taco Bell prices began more or less back in 2018, when the cult-favorite fast food restaurant got rid of their dollar cravings menu and changed the once wide array of gloriously inexpensive items to include options priced as high as $5.

Other restaurants have made similar changes. Wendy's, for example, has made subtle shifts away from their fan-favorite 4 for $4 and landed on pricier deals. Similarly, Burger King has replaced their $5 value meal with a $6 deal.

While most die-hard customers took the loss of the dollar menu in stride, it was only the beginning of what would soon become inexcusably high prices in the eyes of many. Now, much to the shock (and fury) of loyal customers, prices on some items have even doubled.

People are calling out the price increases across the internet.

"The price increase and size decrease in tacos is disgusting," one person Tweeted. "Taco Bell is no longer for the poor."

"No way should one burrito cost 6.99 from a fast food place," another fumed.

Luckily, although five bucks certainly won't get you what it used to from Taco Bell, there are still a few affordable options for those on a budget. For example, a Spicy Potato Soft Taco, Cheesy Bean and Rice Burrito, Cheesy Roll Up, and Cinnamon Twists will all cost you just $1 each.

However, if you're in the mood for something like a Crunchwrap Supreme, you may just have to shell out more than you bargained for—or just try out your own recipe.
