Starting December 5th, Target made a major change to all its stores: new holiday hours are in effect! Like last year, the Minneapolis-based box store has extended their hours ahead of Christmas.
Most stores will open at 7am and close at midnight now through Thursday, December 23rd, Target officials confirmed. Hours vary by location, for more information on yours use Target’s store locator.
While it’s a far cry from “open 24 hours” policies that stores like Walmart adopted for the holidays in years prior to the pandemic, it is pretty major considering the omicron variant’s arrival in U.S. and ongoing shortages. Shoppers will take what they can get!
Mark Schindele, chief stores officer, told USA Today that the company is trying to make it “as easy as possible for guests to get all their holiday needs, on their terms.”
“Our extended holiday shopping hours, starting even earlier this year, is one example of just that,” he explained, “Allowing guests more time to shop in store or use our fast same-day pickup options during the final weeks of the holiday season.”
Schindele is referencing that the store’s extended holiday hours started on December 11th last year. As for the comparison to extended hours versus normal hours, it should be noted that most Target locations close at 10pm throughout the rest of the year. Happy shopping!
